Thomas Elgin, Jr was born August 25, 1967, in Austin, Texas to the union of Thomas Wesley Elgin, Sr. and Alma Marie Elder. He attended Austin Independent School District. When he completed high school, he went on to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. Later, he went to work at Motorola as a floor technician.

Thomas was a faithful Dallas Cowboy fan. They could not do no wrong. He loved his family dearly and will be missed by all. His grandkids were his pride and joy. He was an outgoing person. He was kind and gentle.

Thomas was preceded in death by grandparents: Alta Mae Elder and Mattie Elgin; father, Thomas Elgin, Sr.; brother, Tommy Shields; uncles, Leonard Wilcox and Carl Lee Elder.

Thomas is survived by mother : Alma Williams Carrington; sons, Thomas III, and Brandon; brothers Marcus A. Robinson, Norman Christopher Williams, Teddy, Jason and Jonathon Shields; sisters, Desree Elgin and Teresa Shields; grandchildren, Imani, Azalea, Cirianna, Bryson, Ashton, Justice, Dior and Prince. A special grandmother, Mary Frances Gates. The mother of his children Shirley Townsley, referred to affectionately as "baby mama"; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
