Rana Berry Pierucci

April 29, 1965 — March 14, 2023

Austin, TX

On Tuesday the 14th of March, our dear sweet Rana passed away peacefully following her courageous battle with cancer. Rana was 57, born April 29, 1965, to Donal Pierucci and Louise Pierucci Holeman. She was welcomed into their Pittsburgh home by her brother, Donal, and sister Caprice who adored her.

In 1986, Rana moved to Austin, Texas to be with her mother and sister. It was there that she met the love of her life David Boies. They married in 1994. Rana attended Rhode Island School of Design and graduated with honors in 1994. She went on to become a fashion designer for Nordstroms in Seattle. After her first bout with cancer at age 29, she moved back to Austin. Rana gave birth to son Campbell in 1999.

Rana loved her family, and they spent lots of time together. She was a best friend to her sister Caprice Pierucci, who lived next door to her. She was a phenomenal aunt to Caprice’s children, Bat Taniguchi and Kiko Austin. Rana was extremely loyal to her family and friends. She was always willing to help out, and pitch in. She was a truly kind person with a very generous heart and attitude. With her bright disposition and great sense of humor, she was also not afraid to speak her mind and tell it like it is. Her family and friends don’t know what they will do without her.

Rana was a huge a football fan, and she was especially dedicated to her hometown team the Steelers. She was involved with several football pools which brought together family and friends.

Rana was also an amazing cook with specialties ranging from truck stop enchiladas to chicken liver pate. She enjoyed teaching son Campbell to cook as well.

Rana was a personal assistant to three different influential Austin women. Not only did Rana organize their busy lives, but she was welcomed into their families as a dear friend. Multitasking was one of Rana’s superpowers; she was good at everything, well organized, and creative. Rana will be dearly missed by them.

She is survived by David Boies, Campbell Boies, Donal Pierucci, Caprice Pierucci, Bat Taniguchi, Kiko and Mitchell Austin, Lois Kiss, Aaron Kiss, and Deborah, David, Eli, and Veronica Holtsclagg.

A Celebration of Life will be held late in April.
