Kaiya Burke

May 7, 2000 — February 3, 2023

South Austin Location

"I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life is done."

Kaiya Desarae Burke’s Journey began May 7th, 2000 at 12:20pm, weighing 9 lbs., 7 oz., to her doting parents Waylan and Kitia.

Kaiya came into this world making her presence known as she continued to do throughout her life. Kaiya was smart, loud, beautiful, loving, caring, creative, and passionate about what she believed in and very protective of those she loved and cared for.

Her main saying was “ if anybody messes with you, let me know.

Kaiya was the life of the party and her big ol’ smile would light up any room. Kaiya was a blessing to her family in so many ways and had an impact on everyone she met. She was a spirited child who loved to laugh, tell animated stories, and always down to offer to take a shot!

Kaiya loved spending time and turning up with her family, laughing, dancing, and jamming out. And she loved her some all-white G Fazo’s (Air Force Ones).

Kaiya attended public schools in the Pflugerville and Round Rock Independent School District and was employed at Southwest Airline, set to start a new journey. She loved skateboarding and enjoyed playing basketball and hanging with friends. She had a bubbly and energetic spirit and was a joy to be around.

Kaiya will be so deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Kaiya's journey ended February 3rd, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her Grandparents Joe Bill Atkins; Cliff “Grandjock” Houy; Bernadette “Bunny” Houy; Lucille “Maw Maw” Simpson.
