Don served his country during WW II in the Army and later branch transferred to the Air Force when it was established. After his military service Don decided to switch the cold of Ohio winters for the sun of Florida and eventually settled in Miami. It turned out to be a great choice because there he met the love of his life, Lola Albritton. Don went to work for the Post Office and together they raised their 6 children in Miami.  Don was eventually offered a transfer with the Post Office to Austin, Tx which was starting to grow and needed expertise of employees from a large operation like Miami. The entire family wound up loving Austin and became convinced it was a great decision. Don eventually became a Postmaster and served in that capacity in several cities surrounding Austin. He was the go to guy on bringing operations up to speed. Don and Lola eventually bought a small parcel of land south of Austin and there he was able to fulfill a life long dream of being a “gentleman farmer”. All the children and grandchildren became the beneficiaries of this great environment which included a large garden, chickens, horses, ponies, goats and beehives to name a few of the delights he kept going for everyone to enjoy. His years of research turned this endeavor into a great success which was enjoyed by family and friends for many years. Don was preceded in death by Lola, his loving wife of 56 yrs. He is survived by his children, Jackie Freer (Doug), Vincent White, Donna Fore (Steve), Dianne Holbrook, Mark Lander (Lisa) and Paul Lander. He was also blessed with grandchildren and  great grandchildren. Don was a very loving, involved and supportive husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. He truly lived and modeled integrity, politeness, generosity and kindness. He will be greatly missed.
