Diane Gehman

April 29, 1947 — March 17, 2022

South Austin Location

With arms open wide, God welcomed Diane Elizabeth Gehman, 74, of Austin, Texas into His presence on March 17, 2022. She was born on April 29, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, daughter of Wayne Gehman and Elizabeth Ida House Gehman.

As a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) pastor’s middle child, she and her family lived in the Midwest, Georgia, and Texas.  In 1970, she earned her B.S. in Nursing degree from Cornell University/New York Hospital School of Nursing located in New York City.  Her specialties were psychiatry and geriatrics.

After practicing her nursing skills and talents in New York City and Richmond, Virginia, significant health issues/challenges required her to adjust pursuit of her beloved nursing career.  She transferred her love of caring for people to other paid and volunteer efforts in Texas.  She was a caregiver, babysitter, pen pal, and card ministry enthusiast.  She volunteered at local elementary schools, sang alto in church choirs, volunteered at animal shelters, and used her keen listening talent to truly hear what other senior citizens were saying.  Lastly, but certainly not least, she loved to share her gift of playing the piano with others.

Survivors include a brother, Philip R. Gehman and his wife, Kay Lindaman Gehman, of Greer, South Carolina and a sister, Colleen K. Gehman Klein of Buda, Texas; nephews Randall H. Gehman, Russell W. Gehman, Kendall G. Klein and niece Nicole E. Klein; several great nieces and nephews; other caring relatives; and numerous loving and loyal friends.

Diane’s parents, beloved Aunt Mamie Gehman, and nephew Bradley Wayne Klein preceded her in death.

A gathering to honor Diane's life will be held at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be given to The Landis Homes Caring Fund, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz, PA  17543; Susan G. Komen www.komen.org; World Vision www.worldvision.org; or another charity of your choice.

Arrangements by All Faiths Services, Inc., Austin.
