Clint Rogas, Sr

August 21, 1930 — December 18, 2015

North Austin Location

Clint Alvin Rogas, Sr. was born on August 21, 1930 in Travis County, Texas to William and Elizabeth (Clint) Rogas.

Clint grew up on farms near Thrall and Round Rock, where he learned the value of hard work and self-discipline. Clint had a life-long love for hunting and sports. As a boy, he hunted in places in Central Texas that are now covered with streets and buildings. Clint graduated from Round Rock High School in 1949. After high school, Clint was a baseball pitcher in the Longhorn League. Clint met Betty Jo Shelly of Memphis, Tennessee in Carlsbad, New Mexico when he was there playing baseball. They were married in 1954.

Betty was the love of Clint's life. You could see that when you were with them. They were married for 61 years. They had many happy times together. They enjoyed raising their two sons, born in 1960 and 1964, and were always there to guide and support them. After Clint retired in 1990, they enjoyed traveling throughout America.

Clint had a career in the Texas Army National Guard. He worked in many different positions at Camp Mabry as a chief warrant officer. After getting married and starting his career, Clint's love for baseball continued. He enjoyed coaching young athletes and helping them use their gifts to the best of their ability. Clint also loved keeping his church in "tip top" condition. He served on the Property and Maintenance Board at Holy Word Lutheran Church for many years. Clint will be remembered for his energy, patience, and always positive attitude, and his devotion to God, his family, and his country.

Clint was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, William (Bill) and Duane Rogas, and sister, Elizabeth (Bunny) Blacklock.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; sister, Edna (Sister) Schuler; and his two sons and their children: Clint Alvin Rogas, Jr. and his wife, Susan, and children, Kari Warnstedt and husband, Karl, and April Filipenko and husband, Matthew (Matt); and Keith Allen Rogas and his wife, Stephanie, and children, Lauren, Stephen, and Sarah.

On December 18, 2015 the Lord Jesus sent his angels to gather Clint to himself. We will miss him dearly as we wait patiently in the certain hope that we will see him again when Jesus returns with all the saints and angels.
