Willie James
Drake
Sep 10, 1964 — Jul 4, 2026
Austin, TX
Willie Drake was born on September 10, 1964, and departed this life on July 4, 2026.
Willie found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful. He loved attending Restoration Bible Church, singing a good song, spending peaceful hours with a fishing pole in hand, and sharing laughter and good times with family and friends. Whether he had a microphone in his hand, was sitting by the water waiting for a bite, or was simply surrounded by the people he loved, Willie was right where he wanted to be -- enjoying life and making memories along the way.
His love for karaoke was well known, especially during the time he spent singing at various places. Willie enjoyed stepping up to the microphone and sharing a song. Those moments became part of the memories that family and friends will carry with them.
When Willie wasn't singing, he could often find peace enjoying the outdoors, playing dominoes or playing basketball with the Special Olympics team.
Willie's life will be remembered through the stories told, the laughter shared, the songs that bring his memory back, and the quiet moments near the water that remind us of the things he loved.
Willie was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Mae Neal; his father, James Neal; his grandparents, Ernest Neal and Lela Belle Resse, Lula Mae Drake, great-grandmother Annie Moore; his sisters, Anita Drake and Jean Sauls-Billingsley; his aunt, Minnie Norwood; and his uncle, William Norwood.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving sisters, Sharon Drake-Williams and Lois Bonds (Kenneth Bonds); and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, first cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Although Willie's song on this earth has ended, the memories he created will continue to play in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
