It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Sylvia Kay Shepard, affectionately known to many as "Peaches." Born on June 7, 1951, in Austin, Texas, Sylvia spent her life embodying joy, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. She departed this world on August 28, 2025, also in her beloved Austin.
Sylvia was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served her country with dignity and honor. Following her military service, she dedicated much of her professional life to noteworthy roles at the VA and the Postal Service. In every position, she brought her trademark positivity and compassion, touching countless lives along the way.
A devoted wife and mother, Sylvia took great pride in being a devoted wife to Wendell Craig Shepard and raising her three children, Rodger, Randy, and Rochelle. Each moment spent together during family gatherings was a source of joy for her, leaving lasting memories that her children , husband and family will carry in their hearts forever. As a nurturing figure, she was always someone they could rely on, someone who would lend a helping hand or share a smile in even the toughest of times.
Sylvia's thirst for knowledge was evident through her education; she attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Management showcasing her dedication to furthering her understanding of the world. When she was not immersed in family life or her career, she found solace in bible study, deepening her faith and enriching her spirit.
Her spirit lives on through her loving family, including sisters Sherryl Tasby and Wanda Tolliver, her brother Waverly Earl Alexander III , grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Together they celebrate not only the legacy of her achievements but the profound impact she made as a wife, mother, sister and friend.
