Stephen Gartside Jr

d. June 23, 2017

North Austin Location

Stephen Krone Gartside, Jr., born May 22nd, 1965, passed away June 23rd, 2017. Steve will always be remembered as a loving husband, a passionate father, and a devoted son.

Steve lived much of his childhood in Beaumont, Texas, spending several years in France and Ohio, as well. He went on to the University of Texas to earn his bachelor’s degree in Business, where he met his wife Kathi. They were married for almost 30 years and raised their two daughters, Nicole and Amy, moving to both coasts and a few places in between, eventually calling Evergreen, Colorado home for over 12 years. Steve and Kathi returned to Austin, Texas after their girls went on to college.

Steve was exceptionally driven in every facet of his life. Anyone that knew Steve knew he was a hard worker with incredible insight and a drive to succeed, not just in his professional life, but in his personal life as well. He was an avid runner, competing in more marathons than even he could count, several ultra-marathons, and even the Leadville 100, considered one of the world’s toughest running races. When he wasn’t running, he loved spending time with his family -- traveling the world, cooking great meals, and usually sparking some friendly family competition.

Steve will always be remembered and cherished by all the people he’s impacted during his life -- family, friends and colleagues. He is survived by his wife, Kathi, his two daughters, Nicole and Amy, his mother and father, Stephen and Jo Ann Gartside, his sister Jennifer Trotter, and his brother Andrew Gartside.

Services honoring Steve’s life will be held on Friday, June 30th at 11 AM at The Wimberley United Methodist Church - 1200 County Road 1492, Wimberley, TX 78676. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Bridgewood Farms, 11680 Rose Road, Conroe, TX 77303.
