Scott Martin, age 33, of Austin, Texas passed away on October 20, 2025.
He was born in Joplin, Missouri on September 24, 1992 to Gregg and Patty Martin. He attended George Nettels Elementary School, Pittsburg Middle School and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 2011. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Arkansas. He later received a Master’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of Nebraska.
Scott was a software developer and had worked for a few different companies on a number of interesting projects and platforms. He was currently working at Jack Henry & Associates where he enjoyed his work and colleagues.
Growing up, Scott participated in multiple sports, 4-H and piano lessons (because his mom made him). He helped on the family farm with his siblings and cousins. In high school, he focused on football and enjoyed all the aspects of conditioning, practice and playing.
In college, Scott worked at the on-campus tutoring center and served as a TA while in graduate school. He was great at teaching and breaking down concepts for other people. He really loved problem solving and thinking deeply about problems.
Scott enjoyed being outdoors, hiking, running, and skiing. He liked watching movies, reading books and was an avid WNBA fan. He appreciated a good physical challenge and a thoughtful conversation.
He was a fun and caring uncle who gave his nieces and nephews his undivided attention when they were together.
Scott is survived by his mom Patty, his brother Dan and sister-in-law Erin, his sister Jenny and brother-in-law Jake; his nieces and nephews Coraline, Wesley, Charlie, Will, Maggie and Matilda; his aunts, uncles and cousins; and, his long-time friend Colleen Burns and their two dogs Emmy and Max.
Scott was preceded in death by his dad Gregg; his paternal grandparents Danny and Judy Martin; and his maternal grandparents Bob and Madelyn Patton.
A private memorial service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (https://www.wilcotx.gov/380/Donations), Austin Pets Alive (https://www.austinpetsalive.org/), the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (https://www.pcrf.net/), or a charity that is close to your heart. Our recommendation would be to donate directly to the websites. We would also encourage people to donate blood since Scott did that regularly.
Scott was quiet and caring - quick to help and slow to criticize. He was dependable and hardworking, with a kind heart and a generous spirit. We ask that you honor his memory by helping someone in your community who is in need and by showing that compassion isn’t in such short supply.
