Sandra Stifflemire

July 2, 1940 — October 9, 2012

North Austin Location

Sandra Maureen (Harris) Stifflemire died Tuesday, October 9th,2012
at the age of 72.

Born on July 2nd, 1940 in Zanesville, Ohio. The daughter of Andrew
and Goldie Harris. They later moved to Austin, Texas in 1945 where
they opened a very well known landmark downtown on Barton Springs
Road known as "Sandy's" noteablly named after Sandra.

She went to William B. Travis High School and graduated 1948. She
was the mother of 4 very strong women Tami, Kim, Trisha, and Barbara.
She was a woman of many talents in fine arts. She was crafty making
jewelry, and a master in the kitchen. A very wise woman that was
never afraid to let you know the facts. Of course with all the life
lessons she learned and taught of course she was very wise. Let us
not forget how she loved to spoil the grandchildren. She was the
grandma everyone wanted. Giving them what they wanted.

She loved her board games in which she had random phases of which
ones she went through. I am sure all of us remember seeing a
Yahtzee or Scrabble game lying around somewhere. She loved reading,
we all know she also did a lot of that.

Undoubtably, her favorite thing was holidays. She was the foundation
of our family, and the planner of all the events. She would pride
herself on making sure we were all together for the important times.
Having the house filled with cousins, siblings, children, grandchildren,
and great grandchildren brought an unspeakable feeling to her heart
that she never failed to express.

Her last few days with us were surrounded with love. She was at peace
with everyone, and everything. Her wishes were simple. She wanted to
smile and laugh along with everyone around her. Trust me in saying
she got just that. She defied odds against her. Although she left,
she left with a story for us to share about how strong of a woman she
was. About how the strength of the woman is in every family member,
and friend near and dear.

Sandra is survived by her brother Darryl Harris; sister, Jacqueline
Edwards; daughters and husbands of, Kim Mathews and Darren, Tami
Lewis and Erwin, Trisha Charlez and Ernest, Barbara Tierney and Richard;
granddaughters, Amber Melcer, Megan Collins, Kaitlyn Sughrue; grandsons,
Cody Underhill, Taylor Sughrue, Matthew Charlez, Zachary Charlez Nathan Blehm; many
great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

We are forever greatful to be able to have such an amazing person
included in our lives. Being able to spend time with you is something
we will all cherish within ourselves because you made everyone know
that we are amazing people. You may be gone, but your strength will
never be.
