Sandra Lynel Burton

May 1, 1954 — June 30, 2023

Austin, Texas

Sandra “Sandy” Burton was born on May, 1, 1954 and was called home by our Heavenly Father on June 30, 2023. She will be greatly missed, and her life will be cheerfully celebrated. Her light will continue to shine because of her Faith in God. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was adored by her numerous cousins, friends, extended family members, and community.

As a registered nurse and caretaker, she fulfilled the calling on her life to help others in their time of need (Sandra: means helper of man). She devoted countless years to ensure the well-being of others.

Sandra was known for her unique sense of style and known as the “hat lady.” She had a hat to match every outfit. Her favorite color was lime green and she loved to dance and sing.

She had a loving, sweet, and giving soul. She always had a radiant smile that would light up a room and an infectious laughter that would bring joy to anyone who heard it.

She is survived by her four children: Lynel Gaines, Roland Ware, Raven Jones, Tommy Fresch, Jr., (10) siblings (7) brothers: Abdul Mohamed (Perry Ware), Roland Ware, Samuel Ware Jr., Alfred Ware, Kenneth Ware, Joel Ware, Matthew Ellison Jr. and (3) sisters: Helen Ware-Ellison, Beverly Ware, Ellen Ellison-Westra. Grandchildren: Tamika Ware, Shanika Ware-Ingram, Chantal Gaines, Roland Ware, Jr., Quinnisha Sampson, Quinton Sampson, De’Andra Wilson. Great-grandchildren: Kennedy Ware-Morgan, Aaliyah Funderburke, Avery Davis, Remi Sampson, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
