Ronald Ira Mason

d. October 28, 2023

Ronald Ira Mason, age 67, passed away on October 28, 2023 after a battle with Dementia.

Ron was born on January 23, 1956 in Austin, Texas. He took great pride in being a native Austinite. Ron graduated from John H. Regan High School in 1974. He worked for many years in the Service Station Business as well as driving a wrecker. Oil and Gas was in his blood, and he came from the Mason family legacy of service station businessmen. Ron was never prouder than when his son graduated with his automotive diploma to follow that family legacy in his own way.

In 1997 Ron started a new career in the underground utilities field. This allowed him more time at home with his wife and then newborn son. Ron retired from Ferguson Enterprises in 2019 with 22 years of service.

Ron loved to travel and especially drive. He made yearly trips to the Texas State Fair to spend hours in the car barns pouring over the new models... domestic only, GM preferred. Family trips to the beach and New Orleans were favorites. Happiness for Ron was sitting at Lind and Angelle Baudier's house visiting and eating "Mama Linda's" cooking.

He looked forward to the Payne Family Reunion each year and loved his extended family dearly. He adored Christmas and made annual pilgrimages to San Antonio to watch the Christmas Water Parade and Riverwalk lighting.

Ron became a Christian late in life joining Our Savior Lutheran Church where he was baptized in 2022. He loved Jesus, his church, and his family. His pastor, Eric Borchers, became one of his dearest friends. He looked forward to meeting "the guys" on Tuesday mornings for breakfast bible study.

He will be remembered for his big heart and sense of humor.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Ira and Janis Mason Jr, brother Charles Craig, Sister in Laws Karla Mason and Angel Barnhart.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Elizabeth (Beth), his son Stephen, sister-in-law Anne Mason, brother-in-law Richard Barnhart (Fleta), cousins that were brothers John Calaway and Brett Calaway (Denise) and Cousin Bill Mason, Jr., nieces Ari, Crystal, Medwyn (Stephen), Winter (Cody) and Caitlin (Michael) and nephew Jefferson, great nephew Carlos and grand-niece Pearl. He is also survived by many cousins. His spare sons & daughter in laws, dear friends, and especially his beloved kitties.
