Peggy Ruth Turpin

Peggy Turpin, 87, was born September 3, 1931 in Crocker, Missouri to John Thurman Turpin and Ruth Avalia (Bryan) Turpin and departed this life August 24, 2019.

Peggy attended school in Crocker, Missouri and graduated in 1949.  She married and had two children, Liza (Clay) Patterson and Sara (Clay) Turpin.  She resided in Carthage, Joplin, and Springfield, Missouri where she raised her children and worked as a nurse until retiring in 1996.  In 2009, she moved to Georgetown, Texas to be closer to her children and eventually stayed with them in Austin when her health began to fail in 2018.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Don Turpin and Rufus Turpin; sister-in-law Joanne Turpin; niece Susan Turpin; great nephew Eric Mackin.

Peggy is survived by her daughters Liza and Sara; sons-in-law James Patterson and Sidney Womack; granddaughters Lily Patterson and Claire Patterson; sister-in-law Frances Turpin; nieces Jennifer Mackin, Janet Summerford and Joyce Brooks; and many of her wonderful friends.

Peggy was a kind-hearted woman who deeply loved her family and friends.  She was the best mother anyone could have.  Peggy was very wise and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was young at heart, open minded, and a lover of animals and the natural world.
