Newton Hammet, Jr. passed away on December 30, 2013. He was beloved by his wife, by his children and by his grandchildren. He was an avid computer programmer and was active in politics for many years. He loved to dance and the stray cat that showed up at his home and adopted by himself and his wife.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie Hammet; daughters Jonee Longoria and Suzanne Smithv; grandchildren Julianna Longoria, Brandon Smith and Rachel Smith; sister Betsy Hammet.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Service North. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX.
