Obituary

Melinda Solis, affectionately known as "Melly," passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, in Austin, Texas, surrounded by love. Born on September 10, 1973, in Merced, California, Melinda led a life marked by unwavering devotion to her family, resilience in the face of challenges, and an adventurous spirit that inspired all who knew her.

Throughout her career, Melinda embraced numerous roles, exemplifying a strong work ethic and an unyielding determination to support her loved ones. She began her professional journey as a certified nursing assistant before dedicating many years to working in nursing home kitchens and providing housecleaning services. Later in life, she pursued her Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), becoming a driver, a testament to her willingness to adapt and take on new challenges. No matter the role she played, Melinda was known for her reliability and commitment to family, traits that will forever be remembered by those close to her.

Melinda's three daughters, Deidra Hernandez, Stephanie Solis, and Brianna Solis, were her pride and joy. She dedicated herself to instilling in them the confidence and courage necessary to chase their dreams. Melinda’s legacy lives on through her daughters, as she took immense pride in their accomplishments and the lives they were building, knowing that a part of her continued on within them. Her warmth and encouragement were vital in shaping their paths, whether it was cheering on her eldest daughter’s family and grandchildren, marveling at her middle daughter’s fearless spirit, or celebrating the achievements of her youngest as she navigated her own educational journey.

In addition to her beloved daughters, Melinda cherished her four grandchildren, her siblings Ramiro Solis and Linda Korkian, and her mother, Diana Fox. The relationships she nurtured throughout her life were a testament to her heart of gold and her ability to bring light and love into her family’s lives.

Melinda was not only a devoted mother but also a beloved best friend to her daughters. Together, they shared countless treasured memories, from making pan de polvo during Christmas preparations to embarking on road trips filled with music and laughter. Her strength as a nurturing figure was evident in the simple, yet profound moments they spent together, like working at independent living facilities, taking family trips, and enjoying quiet weekends filled with coloring and puzzles.

Despite the challenges she faced in her battle against cancer, Melinda remained a pillar of strength, grace, and unwavering faith. She faced each day with her characteristic courage, her spirit undiminished even in the most trying times. Her kindness and sense of humor made her a beacon of love and support for all who knew her.

Melinda Solis is preceded in death by her father, Ramiro Solis. She is survived by her partner, Adan Solis, and her three daughters.
