In loving memory of Mary Elizabeth Hausmann
Mary Hausmann, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was born on August 24, 1934 in Boston, Massachusetts. She passed away on September 18, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love that will carry on through her family.
Mary met the love of her life, Glen Roy Hausmann of La Grange leaving behind her parents, siblings, and extended family in Boston to live in two other states before settling in Austin, Texas when Glen completed his service in the Navy.
Mary was more than a housewife and mother of four. She was a thoughtful friend, caregiver to many, neighborhood advocate, school mentor long after her children were grown, and a volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul. Mary’s infectious smile, sense of humor and love for her family and friends will live on for all who were fortunate to have met her.
Mary lived for the joy of watching her family grow. Mary had a gift with children, never meeting a child that she couldn’t make smile and laugh. She was a proud grandmother to Travis, Traci, Matthew, Kyle, Hannah, Mia, Sarah, Amanda, Aleah and Lauren. She loved spending time with them in Austin and also when she and Glen would have them at the farm in La Grange.
Mary is survived by her children and their families who will carry on her memory in their hearts. She is preceded in death by her husband Glen Hausmann.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, October 21st, 2023; please see the listing below for directions and service information. There will additionally be a private graveside burial in La Grange for the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Texas Alliance for Life (link below) or the Alzheimer’s Association in her honor.
