Martin Haros Sr.

December 8, 1954 — September 28, 2023

Martin Haros, Sr., was born at home in Austin, Texas on December 8, 1954, the youngest of fifteen children. He passed on to be with our loving Creator on September 28, 2023, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Martin was a devoted husband to Rebecca, a dedicated father to their five children, and a loving grandfather (Popie) to over 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He spent his life caring for and supporting his family as a truck driver. He was known for his delicious refried beans and homemade salsa that would burn your mouth.

A devoted family man, Martin loved to spend time with his family and loved ones. Every Friday night, Martin, his siblings, and their children would gather at his parent’s home in Austin, Texas. You would never know what kind of antics the cousins would get into! Martin’s favorite past time was sharing a beer with his family as he listened to music and sang along.

Martin is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Rebecca Macias Haros, and their five children and their spouses: Martin Haros (wife Joy Haros), Phillip Haros, Isabel Cruz (husband Miguel Cruz), Anthony Haros (wife Donna Haros), and Michelle Robledo (husband Ray Robledo); 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters Oralia, Yolanda and Janie; brothers Jimmy and Carlos.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Luis Haros Sr. and Reymunda Guzman Haros; sisters Mary, Rosa, Margaret, and Josephina; brothers Luis Jr., Raymond, Phillip, Roy and Ruben; grandsons Christopher and John Phillip.

The family expresses its gratitude to the hospice caregivers and the family and many friends that have provided loving support during this time as we mourn the head of our family.
