Marsha Sue Guyton

July 27, 1949 — April 8, 2024

Marsha Sue Guyton was a Christian and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. She was called home by our Lord and Savior on April 8, 2024. She was known as Peaches by her siblings, Sister Naynay by her brothers and sisters in Christ, and Naynay by her grandkids and great grandkids. Sister Naynay was a faithful member of Baptist Temple church and attended Sunday School and Worship services as often as possible. She had a generous heart and often displayed her love through her cooking.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, John Wille Guyton (Billy), Father, Alvin Vernon Griffin, Mother, Lillie Mae Griffin, Brothers: Otis Ray Griffin (Punkin), L.D. Griffin (Robbie), Donnie Joe Griffin (Pearl), Sisters: Verna Mae Milligan (Charles), Sarah Lee Ellis, and Linda Faye Riggins (Boogie).

After attending Taylor High School, she became a loving wife, dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was united in marriage to the love of her life John Willie Guyton (Billy aka GG) on April 7, 1969. They were married for 53 years and had three children: Dean Griffin, Sharon Guyton-Frischen (Larry), and Bernard Guyton (Amberley). Their Family grew when they were blessed with four (total) grandkids: Dessiny Guyton, Johnathon Frischen (Diana), Terrence Frischen (Esmeralda), and Larry Murray (Beth). Then the Lord added to their number five (total) great grandkids: Malia Frischen, Alayna Frischen, Isabella Frischen, Parker Murray, and Gibson Murray. John Paul Morales is a special member of our family and always referred to her as mama.

She loved spending time with her family. She loved to dance. And from her younger days to her older age, she could never resist a good party. She loved to cook and always forgot that one key item on the grocery list. She would call and ask someone these famous words, “Hey baby, you coming by here today? If so, do you think you can stop by the store really quick and pick this up?” It would help her complete the perfect dish, that she was happy to share with anyone that wanted a plate. She often worked 2 jobs. One was a housewife making sure when her husband came home, that laundry was done, the bathroom was free to use, and always had a hot meal ready and waiting for him after a hard day at work. Another was providing childcare for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren while their parents were at work. She would watch them after school every day, during the summer, and during winter breaks. They were fed well and taken care of with all the love and kindness she could give.

Peaches (Naynay) is survived by her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and siblings. Sisters: Rhondel Williams (Greg), Carol Hargers (Eugene), LaNell Mitchell (Shorty), and Sherri Cook (Vernon).

Brothers: Alvin Griffin (Rose), Nathaniel Griffin (Rosalinda), and Bobby Griffin.  She is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends (which we also consider family).
