Marie Gillenwaters

Marie Bostic Gillenwaters, was born on May 29th, 1930 in Potters Hill, North Carolina and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at The Springs Rehabilitation facility in Cedar Park, Texas. She was 93.

Marie spent her childhood living with her aunts and half siblings in Potters Hill, North Carolina, just outside of Beulaville. In 1952 she married John David Gillenwaters, a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy. They traveled from coast to coast with their two sons until his retirement in 1970. Marie worked full time at Farmers Insurance for 25+ years, putting away enough money to build her dream retirement home in Pflugerville, Texas in 1996. She lived there until the last few months of her life, maintaining an exceptional yard and garden. Marie loved God and was devoted to taking care of every one of her family members. 

Marie is preceded in death by her husband John David Gillenwaters and her sons, Richard Gillenwaters and David Gillenwaters. She is survived by: daughters-in-law Lindalee Gillenwaters and Chris McCully; grandchildren Stephanie Gillenwaters, Erin Gillenwaters Flores and husband Benjamin, Ryan Gillenwaters; and 3 great grandchildren.

Marie’s visitation will take place at All Faith’s Funeral Services on Friday, September 15 from 2:00 – 6:00 PM. Burial will take place on Saturday, September 16 at 10:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at Waco Memorial Park.
