Maria Silvia Espinoza

Our wonderful, loving, and strong mother Maria Silvia Espinoza, was born Wednesday, February 24, 1960 and was called to join our Heavenly Father on Monday, May 20, 2024. She lived all 64 of her years in dedication to the Lord.

Born to Jose de Jesus Guerrero and Guadalupe Elisa Guerrero Robles in Nuevo Laredo Tamaulipas, she was the second of five brothers and sisters. Living there she met the love of her life Lavin Espinoza, they moved to Texas and were married on February 14, 1981 where their love story lasted all 43 years. A year after their union they welcomed their daughter Brenda and fifteen months after that welcomed their son Lavin Orlando to complete their loving family. She was instrumental in bringing her husband to Christ and raised her children in faithfulness to the Lord as well.

Silvia was a faithful servant of God, never one to balk at a challenge; she was first to offer aid and service whenever it was needed. She had a boisterous and infectious laugh that lit up a room. She was direct, sharp witted, funny, and attentive to details. She never forgot a birthday and got things done before anyone knew there was a task that needed to be done. She loved to serve the Lord and did so as a secretary to the Church of Christ in Arlington for several years, later she was a part of the children’s ministry, World Bible School, the Jail Ministry, and the cooking crew at Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.

While we must say farewell for now to our beloved mother, many have to say the same to a dear friend, sister in Christ, and loved one. She was a comfort and a caregiver to many, including her youngest sister Leticia who was certainly waiting with open arms when she crossed into Heaven. 

Through her trials and tribulations mom remained faithful and strong, she fought the good fight and is now with our loving God. We celebrate her overwhelming joy as she now worships God in his glorious presence. 

Silvia will be fondly missed by her husband Lavin, her daughter and son Brenda and Lavin Orlando, her mother Elisa, her brothers Jose and Victor, and her sister Maria Elisa. As well as by many more friends and family.

With heartfelt gratitude, we the family thank each and every one of you for your visits, prayers, and all other expressions of sympathy  and comfort you’ve gifted us. You have been a balm to our broken hearts.

There will be a Celebration of LIfe held in Silvia’s honor on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ. The viewing will start at 1:00 PM and the service will be at 3:00 PM. For those unable to make it in person the Celebration will be live streamed on the Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ YouTube channel.

Nuestra maravillosa, amorosa y fuerte madre María Silvia Espinoza, nació el miércoles 24 de febrero de 1960 y fue llamada a unirse a nuestro Padre Celestial el lunes 20 de mayo de 2024. Vivió sus 64 años en dedicación al Señor.

Nacida de José de Jesús Guerrero y Guadalupe Elisa Guerrero Robles en Nuevo Laredo Tamaulipas, fue la segunda de cinco hermanos y hermanas. Allí conoció al amor de su vida Lavín Espinoza, se mudaron a Texas y se casaron el 14 de febrero de 1981 donde su historia de amor duró los 43 años. Un año después de su unión le dieron la bienvenida a su hija Brenda y quince meses después le dieron la bienvenida a su hijo Lavín Orlando para completar su amorosa familia. Ella jugó un papel decisivo en traer a su esposo a Cristo y también crió a sus hijos en fidelidad al Señor.

Silvia era una sierva fiel de Dios, nunca se resistía a un desafío; ella era la primera en ofrecer ayuda y servicio cuando fuera necesario. Tenía una risa bulliciosa y contagiosa que iluminaba la casa. Era directa, ingeniosa, divertida y atenta a los detalles. Nunca olvidaba un cumpleaños y hacía las cosas antes de que nadie supiera que había una tarea por hacer. Le encantaba servir al Señor y lo hizo como secretaria de la Iglesia de Cristo en Arlington durante varios años, luego fue parte del ministerio infantil, la Escuela Bíblica Mundial, el Ministerio de Cárcel femenino y el equipo de cocina de la Iglesia de Cristo de Brentwood Oaks.

Si bien por ahora debemos despedirnos de nuestra amada madre, muchos tenemos que decirle lo mismo a una querida amiga, hermana en Cristo y ser amado. Ella fue un consuelo y una cuidadora para muchos, incluida su hermana menor Leticia, quien ciertamente estaba esperando con los brazos abiertos cuando cruzó al Cielo.

A través de sus pruebas y tribulaciones, mamá se mantuvo fiel y fuerte, peleó la buena batalla y ahora está con nuestro amoroso Dios. Celebramos su gozo abrumador mientras ahora adora a Dios en su gloriosa presencia.

Silvia será extrañada con mucho cariño por su esposo Lavín, su hija y sus hijo Brenda y Lavín Orlando, su madre Elisa, sus hermanos José y Víctor y su hermana María Elisa. Así como por muchos más amigos y familiares.

Habrá una Celebración de la Vida en honor de Silvia el sábado 25 de mayo de 2024 en la Iglesia de Cristo de Brentwood Oaks. El acompañamiento de cuerpo presente comenzará a la 1 de la tarde y el servicio será a las 3 de la tarde. Para aquellos que no puedan asistir en persona, la celebración se transmitirá en vivo en el canal de YouTube de la Iglesia de Cristo de Brentwood Oaks.
