Obituary

Linda Conway was born January 12, 1946, in Liberty, Texas, to loving parents George and Ethel Turner. She grew up in El Campo, Texas, where she was a proud member of the marching band at El Campo High School, as well as a synchronized swimmer. Linda’s family moved to California, where she graduated from Long Beach High School in 1965.

Linda met and married her best friend, Orville Gene Conway, in 1971 in Houston, Texas. They settled in the Pasadena area, where they raised their family and attended Sagemont Baptist Church. They loved camping and meeting new people and had many adventures with their kids. Years later, they moved to Austin, where Linda worked at IBM for the next two decades as an administrator.

Linda moved to South Austin in 2012 to live with her daughter and son-in-law and help raise her youngest grandchild. She joined Manchaca Baptist Church in 2013 and served in AWANA, the Operation Christmas Child ministry, the Linus Project, and was a devoted member of the Disciples class. Linda also had a personal outreach ministry for many years, sending cards to those on the prayer list to let them know she was lifting them up to receive the Lord’s blessings.

Linda faced some challenges and many profound losses in her life, but she held on to her faith and her family. She loved hard, and she did not allow a day to pass that she did not let the people in her life know how special they were to her. She was a beacon of light in a dark world, and her shine will continue to glow in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to be loved by this beautiful lady. Linda passed away January 26, 2026.

Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Orville Gene Conway; her son, Marty Gene Conway; her daughter, Marlinn Conway; her parents George and Ethel Turner; and her sister, Joan Birt.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Wade Kirkpatrick; her sister Georgan Hendricks; her niece and nephew-in-law, Lin and Wade Hutzenbiler; her grandchildren, Haylea and husband Clayton Tubbs, Dillon Conway, and Katie Kirkpatrick; her great-grandchildren, Harden and Tilly Tubbs; as well as many loving cousins and their families.

Linda's brother-in-law and dear friend, Robert Hendricks, passed away on February 3, 2026, joining her in heaven.

The Celebration of Life will be held on February 14, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Manchaca Baptist Church, 1215 Farm to Market 1626, Manchaca, TX 78652.
