Kimberly Moore

July 23, 1962 — July 19, 2017

North Austin Location

Kimberly Ann Moore -known to more than her children and other relatives as "Mom" and "Aunt Kim" -slipped gently away in the early morning hours of July 19, 2017, after a long battle with many health complications.

She was born in Sedalia, Mo., to the late William B. Moore and Rose E. Moore, to whom she remained devoted throughout her life.

Kim, who adored children and animals, will be remembered by all who knew her as a loving mother, aunt, sister and friend. She generously shared her home and resources with all who had needs, loved their children as her own, and was loved by them in return. To her nieces and their friends, Kim was more like a "big sister" who offered space and encouragement to learn and grow.

After attending high school in Joplin, Mo., Kim traveled with her parents throughout the country before they all settled in central Texas in 1989, near her brothers and their families. There, she established roots in the community as well as many lasting friendships. She served as a den mother for her sons' Cub Scout pack and as an elementary teacher at Nazarene Christian School in Bastrop, Texas. In later years, despite her declining health, she attended Ashford University in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in education, hoping to return to teaching.

Kim is survived by her sons, Joshua Moore and Allen Moore, both 19, of Rockdale, Texas, as well as by Chelsea Mathiews, age 25, who she viewed as her adopted daughter. She also is survived by two brothers, a nephew, six nieces, three great-nieces and countless friends.

Services are scheduled for 1PM on September 9th, 2017, at Milam County Cowboy Church in Rockdale. Although flowers are welcome, charitable contributions may made to a charity of the donor's choice.
