Kerry Ann Stennett

August 8, 1956 – June 17, 2024

Kerry Ann Stennett, age 67, passed away Monday, June 17, 2024, at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center. She was born August 8, 1956, to Olive DeLay and Jack Higginbotham in Monahans, Texas. Her husband, Ray Kyle Carter, preceded her in death. She grew up in West Texas and graduated from Grandfalls-Royalty High School in 1972. She later graduated summa cum laude from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas in 1990.

Kerry lead a respected and successful 30-year career with the State of Texas where she developed her depth of knowledge with procurements, contracts and purchasing while working for the General Services Commission, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and the Department of Information Resources.

She thoroughly enjoyed the ocean, eating oysters, yellow roses, scratching lottery tickets and soaking in her hot tub. She loved to travel with family and friends, and she loved to have a good time, often bringing party favors and glow toys to share with all. Kerry enjoyed live music, valued her piano, and played the piano beautifully herself. One of her favorite songs to play was The Rose by Amanda McBroom.

Above all, Kerry was an incredibly giving and caring person. In addition to being a sustaining donor to the Central Texas Food Bank for many years, she often donated to causes she cared about and always contributed to children’s fundraising efforts. She supported multiple young adults through their college education, was dedicated to helping friends and family through tough times, and her home was always open to anyone in need.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her bonus son, Brandon Carter, and grandson, Alec Carter.

She is survived by her beloved daughter Cori Stennett and wife Mandy of Haines, Alaska; Bonus daughters Fallon Bowers and husband Andy of Olney, Texas and Salina Carter of Austin, Texas; Four grandchildren Erin Fuentes of Austin, Jaylee, Bradi and Cashton Bowers of Olney; Sister Kimberly Randolph of Austin; Brothers Kelly Higginbotham and Toby Higginbotham of Odessa, Texas; Nieces and nephews; Her sweet pup Sugar Bear; and lots of family and friends who will miss her immensely.
