John A Morriss, affectionately known as "Buzz," was born on December 7, 1951, in Austin, and peacefully passed away on August 11, 2026.

His life, defined by an indomitable will and steadfast resilience, will remain deeply treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

His journey was marked not only by his own perseverance, but also by the immense love he both offered and received throughout his lifetime. A loving father, cherished brother, proud grandfather, great-grandfather, and Uncle. Buzz’s dedication to family was unyielding-a source of comfort, frustration and laughter.

When Buzz was in his mid twenties, a tragic accident altered the course of his life. Prognoses varied, but the consensus was daunting: doctors told him he would not survive, that independence would forever elude him, that he would be confined to a wheelchair, lose his autonomy, and never walk or drive again. But "no" was not in Buzz’s vocabulary. Through fortitude and sheer will, he proved each of those expectations wrong. He learned to walk when no one believed he could, gradually even setting aside his cane. He not only regained his independence, living on his own for years.  He also reclaimed the freedom to drive once again. While some limitations remained, particularly with short-term memory, Buzz embodied the triumph of hope and persistence over despair-an enduring lesson to all.

Buzz is survived by his loving daughter Erica Leinneweber and her husband Blake Leinneweber. He was a deeply loved grandfather to Cory Stone, Cody Stone, Brandi Stone, Douglas Stone II, Haley Stone, and Hunter Stone. His legacy continues in his great-grandchildren Cree Stone, Audree Stone, Killian Stone, Amelia Leinneweber and Christian Stone. He is also survived by his two brothers, Pete Morriss and George Morriss, who shared a special bond of kinship and brotherly support throughout his life, two nephews, four nieces, three great nephews, and seven great nieces.

Buzz's departure is preceded by his beloved brother Lewis Morriss, his mother Lula "Bess" Morriss, and his father Benjamin Morgan. Their memories remain entwined with his, and together their stories persist in the loving recollections of those who remain.
