Harry Lee Vaughn Jr

August 14, 1946 — March 5, 2024

SFC Harry Lee Vaughn Jr (Retired)

On March 5, 2024, SFC Harry Lee Vaughn Jr (Ret), age 77, of Kyle, Texas passed away peacefully at his home with his beloved wife and best friend, Judy by his side.

Harry and Judy were married on August 22, 2009, in a small ceremony in Kyle surrounded by family and friends. They have resided in Kyle and have enjoyed the peacefulness of a small town living along with their favorite girls, Princess (known as the love of his life) and Chica, their fur babies. To say these babies are spoiled would truly be an understatement.

Harry is survived by his loving wife Judy, son, Harry Lee Vaughn III, wife Gina and their precious daughter Lyla Vaughn, Step-daughter Nicole Pilchiek, spouse James and daughter Ava, Step-son Ross Salyers spouse Joannah and their 3 children Jordan, Olivia and Hunter, his Siblings Mary Ann Vaughn Shaw (Mike), Ruby Vaughn Updyke (John), Robert (Ruth) Vaughn, Richard (Tomi) Vaughn and Sandra Vaughn (Danny), along with his nieces and nephews whom he loved immensely, and many great grand nieces and nephews along with many dear friends and extended family members, especially his loving Aunt Mary Arriola, whom he adored and respected tremendously. Included as part of the close-knit family are Ruby Ann Valent, Robert Arriola, and Christina Martinez, who all grew up raised by their Arriola grandparents, alongside the Vaughn family.

Harry was a man of good character, with a good and generous heart. He touched so many lives in a positive and lasting way. He loved people and he made friends wherever he went, we never knew him to be shy or uncertain about his friendliness. To know Harry was to love him, he was the epitome of what this world needs more of: kindness and compassion!

Harry joined the Army at the tender age of 17 following youth shenanigans. A decision he would always be proud of, as he served his country with pride, honor, and dignity. He did 3 tours in Vietnam and remained active after his military retirement, in veterans support groups where he developed a brotherhood of lasting friendships.

After retiring from the military on July 31, 1985, he went to work for the State of Texas Health and Human Services until he retired in 2015.

Harry is predeceased in death by his parent, Harry Lee Vaughn Sr, mother Margie (Arriola) Vaughn, sister, Debbie Vaughn Garcia, (Maternal grandparents) Pablo and Petra Arriola and (paternal) Grandmother Delfina Rodriquez.
