Freddie Lee Harris Sr. was born June 28, 1944, in Taylor, Texas, to Marshall and Pearlie Mae Harris. He passed away on July 8, 2018.
In 1964 he married his loving wife Darlene Harris; together they shared 54 years of marriage. Freddie and Darlene have three children, Tammy Williams, Freddie Lee Harris Jr., and Carla Gardener. He leaves behind 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, along with many friends and family members.
Freddie L. Harris Sr. is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals, to include, two Purple Hearts. He grew up in Taylor and loved spending time in the country with his cousins, Willie, Alton, Jessie Jr., and Frazier while telling stories of the country life with his grandparents. Later Freddie joined the armed forces in the United States Army; serving eight years with two tours in Vietnam. He was wounded twice in the line of duty and received commendations for his dedication and bravery. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him, as friends and family will attest.
He is remembered by his laughter, his compassion, the adept nature to advice others, his spirit of discernment, and the songs he would sing, "Heaven My Home" by Clara Ward and "Never Would Have Made It" by Marvin Sapp.
