Emily Harper Hill was born to George and Emma Tennon-Harper on February 16, 1929 in Austin, Texas. Emily was reared in Antioch Colony and is the forth of eleven siblings. She attended the Antioch Church and Antioch school.


After becoming a young woman, Emily met and married Augusta Bunton, to this union was born one son. She later met and married Mike Hill, to this union six children were born.


In the early sixties, she and her family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona. She had a lengthy career at John C. Lincoln Hospital, and retired after 27 years of service.. She was an active member of Tanner Chapel AME, church. She later became a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as an usher. Emily loved the Lord and loved to talk about Him. She was one that would proudly tell you what the Lord had done and was doing in her life.


Emily would often speak of returning to her child hood roots. She had siblings that had returned back to Antioch and it was her desire to go back to her beginnings. In 1999 Emily returned back to her roots, Antioch Colony. Having moved back to Antioch, Emily became a member of Antioch Community Church and she served until her health would not allow her to serve any longer. Emily was presided in death by her parents, George and Emma Harper, an older brother, George Harper, Jr.(Dump) two younger brothers, Joshua Harper, and Moses Ollie Joe Harper, two sisters, Eunice Rimes, and Ruth Fears; one daughter, Ella Nancy Hill, one grandson, one grand daughter and one great grandson.


Emily was loved by many, many people. She leaves to cherish her memories, four sons, LeeDell Bunton, Sr. (Anita), Oscar Hill (Sandra), Phoenix, AZ. Johnny Hill (Kaye), Buda, and Jimmie Hill, Rockdale. Two daughters, Emma Mary Johnson, Stockton, CA, and Betty Stokes, Buda. Three sisters: Marian Washington, Mary Nelson (Ardell), and Martha Moyer; two brothers, Elijah Harper (Stubby), (Molett), and Leslie Harper, Buda.
