Obituary

EARL “SNOWMAN” JONES

Sunrise: April 13, 1946

Sunset: August 3, 2026

Earl Jones was born on April 13, 1946, in Bastrop County, Texas, to Rufus and Rose Bell Jones.

Earl was baptized at an early age in Rosanky, Texas.

During his life, Earl met and married Lonna Sayles, and to this union two children were born. Later in life, he met and married Kathleen Urdy, and to this union two more children were born.

Earl also shared a loving companionship with Helen Wilson, who preceded him in death.

Earl was a hardworking man. He worked for Austin Pavement for many years in Austin, Texas, before moving to California. While there, he worked at a Shell station repairing cars. His love and talent for working on automobiles eventually led him to open his own garage, where he continued doing mechanic work.

Earl was liked and loved by many. He gave himself the nickname “Snowman,” a name by which many continued to affectionately call him throughout his life.

Above all, Earl loved his children and grandchildren. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do for them. Even as his health began to fail, he remained present for his family and continued to show them his love and support.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Rose Bell Jones; all of his siblings; and his companion, Helen Wilson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his two sons, Mark Jones and Erik Urdy; two daughters, Machearl Jones and Erika Urdy; 14 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Earl also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Though Earl has departed this life, the love he gave, the memories he created, and the legacy of “Snowman” will live on through all who knew and loved him.
