Donna Frances Pittsford Barnett, 79, of Manchaca, TX died June 27, 2026, in Austin, TX. She was born on November 13, 1946, to Raymond and Norine Carlson Pittsford in Austin, TX. Donna was baptized December 1, 1949, and confirmed June 1, 1959, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Austin. She was a 1964 graduate of McCallum High School. Donna attended Southwest Texas and was a Southwestern Bell telephone operator but thrived during her time spent as medical assistant for Dr. Martin Leggett and others.
Donna was united in marriage with James C. (Bubba) Barnett, III on January 11, 1969, and had two sons (James IV and Joshua). Her immediate and extended family were the absolute center of her world, and she was so proud of her sons’ military service. When her grandchildren were born, she became a doting Mimi and never looked back.
Donna loved to ride her horses, raised and showed dogs, and was rarely seen out of the company of one of her precious fur babies, especially Tank. She was proud to start a family, generational tradition of owning Boxers. She had many close friends and family with whom she spoke on the phone daily and had many traveling adventures, especially visiting Eureka Springs, AR and “their place,” New Orleans, LA with Bubba. They square-danced for a time, and there was always a song (and pink lipstick) on Donna’s lips. She left glitter, sparkles and the scent of tea rose wherever she went.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Norine. She is survived by her husband James (Bubba), sons James IV (Tanya) and Josh, stepdaughter Loretta Crenshaw (Glenn), grandchildren Joshua Jr., Mary, Emma, Caroline and Laura Kate Barnett, brother Danny Pittsford, plentiful nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, August 1, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Austin, TX, with the Rev. Bryan Wolffmueller officiating. The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to her special friends and staff at her assisted living facility.
In lieu of flowers, memorials or donations can be made to Thundering Paws Animal Shelter in Dripping Springs, PAWS Shelter of Central Texas, or St. Paul Lutheran’s General Music Fund.
Family and friends are invited to 2607 Chaparral Park Road, Manchaca, TX 78652, after the service for a light lunch and fellowship.
