Derrick Wayne Houston, born on December 2, 1969, in Phoenix, Arizona, left this world peacefully in his sleep on February 15, 2026, in Austin, Texas, after bravely battling heart problems. He was a cherished son, brother, and friend whose loving personality and radiant smile will be profoundly missed.

Derrick's educational journey began at Popham Elementary, and he later attended Del Valle High School. His formative years were marked not only by academic achievements but also by the warmth and kindness he extended to everyone around him.

Throughout his life, Derrick was known for his infectious smile and compassionate nature. He built lasting relationships that touched the lives of many. Derrick is survived by his stepmother, Stella Houston; three sisters: Pearlie Houston, Danielle Houston of Austin, and Melissa Smith of Bastrop; and two brothers, Kevin Houston and Rodell Harris of Austin.

He also leaves behind two aunts, Susie Jones and Ella Bennett of Austin, along with his half-siblings: sisters Wilma Glover of Nevada and Tamika Glover of Arizona, and brothers Bryan Montgomery of Utah and Rodney Turner of Arizona. Derrick's long-time partner, Melissa Moore of Del Valle, will also carry forward the cherished memories they created together, along with a host of friends and relatives who held him dear.

Derrick was preceded in death by his parents, Kirrie Houston and Shirley Mae Davis. He was welcomed in death by his beloved grandmother, Susie Houston; his older brother, Kerrie Lynn Houston; and several aunts and uncles.

Derrick Wayne Houston’s legacy of love and friendship will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life well-lived, filled with exuberance and kindness. He will forever remain a beloved figure in the lives he touched throughout his journey.
