Delores “BeBe” Smith
October 30, 1953 – April 24, 2026
Delores Smith, lovingly known as “BeBe,” of Austin, Texas, passed away on April 24, 2026, at the age of 72. BeBe was a devoted wife, mother, and woman of strength whose life was marked by resilience, compassion, and an unwavering spirit. She is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, Leon Smith, brother Darryl Jones, sisters Kathy Winn, Sandy Williams, and her sons Marcus Lewis, Ralph Carrington, daughters Lashawn Smith, Denise Smith and Christy Lunger, Niece Chandi LaBoy and Nephews Juan LaBoy (RIH) LeRay and Joshua Winn and cousins far and near who will forever cherish her love, guidance, and presence.
Delores dedicated her career to serving others through her work with the VA, where she helped support and uplift our nation’s veterans as they worked to regain stability in their lives. Her heart for service extended beyond her profession and into her entrepreneurial spirit. Alongside her oldest sibling, Mona LaBoy (RIH), and family, she co-founded Rolling Pin Pizza and Bakery, a business that reflected her love for food, family, and community. Never the one to sit still, Delores later found joy in breeding dogs through Kingdom Pitz, a venture she began with her nephew, Juan LaBoy (RIH), and her brother, Darryl Jones, who proudly carries on the name today. She also spent time working with the Austin Independent School District, where she cared for and supported children with disabilities—another reflection of her giving heart. Even in retirement, Delores continued to inspire those around her. After being diagnosed with lupus, which eventually affected her kidneys and required nearly 25 years of dialysis, she faced every challenge with remarkable strength and grace. Through countless doctor visits and surgeries, she never wavered—remaining strong, faithful, and determined.
BeBe had a deep love for cooking and found joy in the kitchen, especially when making her famous cinnamon rolls and tamales. H-E-B was like her second home, as she was always finding new recipes and ideas inspired by what she saw on social media. She even dreamed of starting another business, “Mrs. Bees,” a testament to her enduring passion and creativity. She enjoyed taking care of her chickens, Marley her last pitbull and her fruit trees. Her husband, Leon, who stood faithfully by her side through every season, can attest to her strength, her faith, and her loving spirit. May God grant you rest! Delores “BeBe” Smith leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and service. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
