DAVID MCCULLOUGH OBITUARY
David Paul McCullough was born May 9,1946 to William and Alton McCullough. Born in Elgin, TX at Elgin Memorial Hospital, he was the youngest of eight children. David was baptized at Lake View Baptist Church. He attended Kimbro Elementary and Booker T. Washington High School.
At a young age he started working in a Brickyard and as a Meter Reader for the City of Elgin. Later in life he moved to Austin, TX. He worked at Omni and Holiday Inn as a Bus Boy. Last employment was City of Austin as Sanitation worker where he retired.
To their union of David McCullough and Cheryl Irving one child was born, Kendra McCullough. He had one of the greatest relationships with his daughter where they would often spend quality time hanging out, playing dominoes, and cruising through Austin listening to music. David loved being around family and friends. He enjoyed the company of others sharing in conversations from past to present. He enjoyed taking his long walks all over East Austin where the community often knew him to be sitting on the corner of 12th Street and Airport Blvd. He would sit on the stoop sharing waves, smiles, and chats with the drivers as they passed by. His long walks even took him on his hobby of picking pecans and sharing his findings. David became ill fighting against cancer where he stood his ground for as long as he could. That long fight ended December 13, 2023.
David Paul McCullough leaves behind to cherish his memories his daughter: Kendra McCullough, two stepchildren: Trishon and Brandon Irving, grandchildren: DaQuan Bunton, Brittany Sorrells, Derris Stewart, and Desmond Binion, three sisters: Ceolia Smith, Evey Williams, and Ruthie Shackles. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and close friends.
