In Loving Memory of David Lucio
David Lucio, age 74, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
David was born on March 7, 1952, in Austin, Texas, to Marcelino Lucio and Virginia Degollado Tijerina. He was raised in Austin and spent his life building a legacy centered around family, hard work, creativity, and determination.
In 1972, David married the love of his life, Cynthia Lozano. Together, they shared more than five decades of marriage, raising a family, and creating a lifetime of memories.
David was a retired painter, a gifted do-it-yourself craftsman, and an avid collector of vintage treasures. He took great pride in his work and possessed a remarkable ability to build, repair, and create almost anything he set his mind to. If David saw something new, he would spend the next few days figuring out how to do it himself. His ingenuity, determination, and willingness to help others became hallmarks of his character.
Above all else, David loved his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, cherished son, brother, and friend. He found joy in spending time with family, working on projects, cooking, baking, and sharing his knowledge with those around him. Many of his children and grandchildren inherited his love of cooking, baking, and creating things with their own hands.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia Lucio; his children, Clint Lucio, Kathleen (Kathy) Lucio Rocha, Michael Lucio, Dianna Lucio, and April Lucio Tijerina; his grandchildren, Kane Robert Lucio, Kristopher Hunter Lucio, Brandy Firkins, Thomas Silvas, Kalyssa Rodriguez, Elysse Siddiqui, Cecilia Lucio, and other beloved grandchildren; his great-grandchildren, Eli, Gohan, and Kian; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He is also survived by his mother, Virginia Degollado Tijerina; his siblings, Sylvia Lucio, Domingo Lucio, Jimmy Lucio, Joe Lucio, Tony Tijerina, Gracie Tijerina, Yolanda Murillo, Esmeralda Rincon, and Rosemary Murillo.
David was preceded in death by his father, Marcelino Lucio; his brothers, Alex Lucio and Johnny Lucio; and his grandson, Ruben Rodriguez.
David will be remembered for his strength, generosity, craftsmanship, sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to his family. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on through the family he loved, the lessons he taught, the projects he created, and the countless memories he leaves behind.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at All Faiths Funeral Services in Austin, Texas. Burial will follow at 1:45 p.m. at Onion Creek Memorial Park, with a reception immediately following.
May he rest in peace, forever remembered and forever loved.
