David Green

September 9, 1945 — October 24, 2012

North Austin Location

David Edwin Green, 67, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012 in Austin, TX at St. David's North Austin Medical Center.

David was born September 9, 1945 and raised in Dallas, TX. He graduated from Bryan Adams High School and attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. He was lucky enough to discover his love for design and architecture in the 8th grade and was a leader in the semi-conductor industry for 42 years. He was very well respected and sought after as one of the best integrated circuit layout designers in the country. He helped with the design for the first digital watch, pocket calculator and most recently, the PS3 chip. He loved his work and was very proud of his ability to hand draw all of his layouts.

In his personal life, David loved the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Longhorns, Willie Nelson, Corvettes and beer. He worked hard and saved for his first Corvette which he bought at the age of 25 and has had one ever since. He enjoyed the finer things in life; a good steak, fast cars and any excuse to rent a limo. He also loved the beach and the lake. He took his family to Galveston every summer and loved to water ski on Lake Travis every chance he got.

More importantly, his honesty was one of his best traits and he was always a man of his word. You always knew where he stood and where you stood with him. He was always a fighter and even more so in the last year of his life. He overcame several odds and surprised all of us, including the doctors.

More than anything, David loved his girls, Debralea, Stacey and BJ. He always wanted girls and was very proud to be the only one on his side of the family to have girls. He was a great man and will forever be loved and missed by everyone who knew him.

David was preceded in death by Edwin Victor Green (his father), O'Neal "Honey" Gillespie Green (his mother), Terry Quarles (his nephew), Yvette Green Quarles (his sister) and his brother-in-law; Len B. Quarles.

He is survived by Debralea Rogers & Stacey Green (daughters in Austin, TX), Mrs. BJ Green (spouse in Austin, TX), Lavonne Burleson (sister in Forney, TX), Mike Green (brother in Dallas, TX), Braden and Kinlea (grandchildren in Austin, TX), his nephews: Marc Quarles (Dallas, TX), Kris and Josh Burleson (Austin, TX), Jeff, Brian, Jonathan and Bradley Green (Dallas, TX), Jamie Kemper (Pflugerville, TX), Ben Houston (Colorado Springs, CO), his nieces: Sara, Rachel and Rebekah Houston (Colorado Springs, CO).

Services will be held Saturday, November 3rd, 2012 at 2:00pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pflugerville, TX followed by a reception. Address is 500 Immanuel Road, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
