b. December 28, 1967

Austin

David Daniel Casares, born on December 28, 1967, in Gonzales, Texas, peacefully passed away on May 20, 2025, in Austin, Texas. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family.

David dedicated forty years of his life to working as a customer service representative, a role he embraced until his retirement in 2018. He was known for his welcoming demeanor and kind spirit, always making those around him feel at ease. David had a unique ability to turn a bad day into a good one with his infectious sense of humor, which warmed the hearts of many.

He was a proud graduate of Somerville High School, class of 1985. Throughout his life, David cherished the bonds he created with his family. He found immense joy in spending time with them, particularly during holidays. His home was often filled with a variety of music, setting the perfect backdrop for family gatherings. David’s culinary skills were also well-known, especially his famous super spicy salsa, a dish that guaranteed laughter (and a search for drinks afterward) whenever it was served.

David’s proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly his children and grandchildren. He often stated that no other achievement could compare to the joy and fulfillment that being a father and grandfather brought him. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, but it was the love he shared with each of them that he valued most.

He is survived by his beloved children: Edward Casares, Miranda Sifuentes, Ayden Casares, and Spencer. He also leaves behind his caring daughter-in-law Kali Casares and son-in-law Patrick Sifuentes. David was a doting grandfather to eight grandchildren who were fortunate to have him in their lives. His nurturing spirit will continue to echo in the lives of those he touched.

David is also survived by his mother, Maria Gonzales, and siblings Rebecca Gonzales, Betty Jo Reyna, and Tina Gonzales. He was preceded in death by his father, Margarito Casares, his beloved mother Anita Guerra, and his sisters Mary Jane Gonzales, Josie Cantu, Cynthia Gonzales, and Pauline Gonzales.

David shared profound life lessons with his family, one being, “Never trust anyone, not even yourself; the moment you do is the day you would die.” While his children might not have comprehended the depth of this wisdom when they first heard it, life experiences later illuminated its significance. David’s constant drive to prepare and protect his children created a foundation of love that they will carry with them always.

As we remember David Daniel Casares, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to family. His spirit will live on in the memories and lives of all who knew him. This isn't a goodbye but a see you later until we meet again.
