Chester Watson, Jr, age 76, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Chester was born on September 29, 1948, in Austin, Texas to Chester Watson, Sr and Evelyn Pearl Hart Watson.
Chester grew up as a member of Mt Olive Baptist Church, formerly New Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Austin. Chester attended schools in the Austin Independent School District. He received his high school diploma from Albert Sidney Johnston High School. After graduating high school, Chester completed three years of higher education at the University of Texas at Austin.
On May 29, 1971 Chester was joined in marriage to Queen E. Robinson After leaving the University of Texas, Chester was employed for over thirty years with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a cable splicer. Following his retirement he enjoyed fishing, his favorite passtime and spending time with family and close friends.
Chester was preceded in death by both beloved parents Chester Watson, Sr. and Pearl Evelyn Watson, his sister Marilyn Watson, brother Earl Watson and nephew Brandon Watson. Chester is survived by his wife of 54 years Queen E. Watson, his children Sue Carnevale (James), Dr. Carmela James and son Daniel Watson; his beloved grandchildren Maegan, Kela and Joseah. He is also survived by his sister Gloria Waston, and bothers Michael and Rev. Gerald Watson in addition to many nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. He will also be dearly missed by a host of other relatives and friends who were touched by his warmth and spirit.
