Charles (Charlie) Reins English of Bastrop, Texas passed away of natural causes on 3 February 2026, in Smithville Texas. He was born 21 October 1934 in Stephenville, Texas to Jack and Effie English where he grew up and attended school. Charles earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Texas in Austin specializing in spin-cast jewelry, leather works, and wood working.
Charles honorably served his country in the United States Air force specializing in Flight Navigation. He logged countless flying hours in various aircraft including the C-123 Short Range Military Transport Air Craft, the C-130 Hercules B, and the Boeing B-47 Stratojet. While working for the State of Texas in the Emergency Management Branch, Charles extended his military career serving in the Air Force Reserves at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, Texas before retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Charles had a great passion for life and had many hobbies over the years. He enjoyed flying planes well into retirement, and telling stories about his flying adventures. He had several planes at the Silversmith Airport where he was a flight instructor, and volunteered to fly fire watch in Fayette and Bastrop Counties. Charles enjoyed jewelry making, leather works, and selling his goods down on the drag near UTA. He enjoyed collecting coins, gold, and silver, riding motorcycles, gardening, and shooting sports.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Effie English, wife Janet Marie English, sister Catherine Ann Erwin, and daughter Donna Kay Graham. He is survived by wife Inge Weber, and sons Keith (Beth), Mike (Ann), and Mark (Sheila) English. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
