Beverly Williams-Hawkins Celebration of Life
Beverly Williams-Hawkins made her final leap of faith on December 12th, 2025, at Hospice Austin’s Christopher House. Her parents, Pearl Williamson, and Lee Roy Hawkins transition before her. Her spouse of 27 years, Dora Robinson, her daughter, Chamagne Williams, Grandson Jonathon Williams, sister Margaret Williams and niece, CoCo Jozita Williams all kept the 11th Hour Watch. Dora’s brothers, Chuck, Harold, and Ron Robisnon also kept the 11th hour watch as did so many of her friends. Helen Hopson gifted her burial shroud and Barbi Turner made her shroud pillow. Port Towsend visitors Nancy Stevens, Sonya Frogen, Joanne Rittmueller (via phone calls), weekly flowers from Lisa Deland, the daily rosary prayed by Mary Lechleidner lifted her spirits. Her spiritual companion and Pastor Hutchison was always close by.
Theologian, Spiritual Director, Psychiatric Nurse, Office Manager, Beverly was a formidable woman with a keen mind; a presence deeply rooted in her spirituality and commitment to be a Christ Follower. An advocate for social justice she believed, as Bell Hooks wrote, “Any society based on dominance supports and condones violence.”
Her courage, coupled with generosity, called her to be a living kidney donor to a man she never met. She believed that suffering was one of God’s gifts, not to be denied or avoided. Proust captures her belief: “Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls…so seared with scares. We are healed of suffering only by experiencing it to the fullest.” She approached everything with an infectious curiosity: nature’s interconnectedness and complexities, artistic and literary expressions, and her dying process. Beverly’s life mirrored the dance practice she embraced, 5 Rhythms. Her graceful body flowed with Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness waves which brought joy and healing. She asks as did Gabrielle Roth, “If you don’t do your dance, who will?”
