Betty Jane Durbin

Betty Jane Gilleland Durbin, 89, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, in Austin, Texas. Betty was born May 13, 1936 in Llano, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents Walter S. Gilleland and Dolly Briscoe Gilleland; husband Joseph (Buddy) Durbin; and siblings Joyce L. Ashabranner, Bobby C. Gilleland, and Carl J. Gilleland.

For many years Betty provided transportation to the blind community ensuring they had access to appointments, shopping and errands. She made many lifelong friends along the way.

Betty was known as one of the most self-less and non-judgmental people to anyone who had the honor and pleasure of meeting her. She loved family dinners and holiday gatherings sharing meals and fellowship. She enjoyed the occasional sweet treat from candy to fruit cake. She was a collector of many things and graciously shared her treasures from plants to collectible dishes with anyone who shared her interests. She was an avid crocheter and often taught others the art of crochet.

Betty had a love for Bingo and had many friends over the years who she would meet regularly to play the game. Often she provided the transportation if needed.

She is survived by her daughters, Judy M. Travis, Dollie Davila and son-in-law Michael (Dave) Davila; grandchildren Brad Travis, Cameron Travis

(Heather) and Tyler Christa (Kerena); great grandchildren Lane Travis, Dylan Travis, Taylor Crista, Hensley Crista, Kinsley Crista, Aaron Travis, Kayden Travis, Jacob Wyatt Travis-Reno; great-great grandchildren Noah Travis and Milo Crista; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life is being planned by the family.
