Barbara Walsworth

June 28, 1935 — September 8, 2017

North Austin Location

She was born June 28th, 1935 in Kerrville Texas to Harold Eslie Wells and Dollie Maira Archer. She passed away September 8, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by her Husband and Son after a series of brief illnesses. She started school in Kerrville Texas, then she and her family moved to San Antonio where she attended Mark Twain Junior High, and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1953.

She had 3 children from her first marriage. She then met the "love of her life", William T. (Bill) Walsworth in San Antonio in 1960, and they were married on May 26th, 1961. They had their only child together, Scott Walsworth in May of 1962. They were married 56 years at the time of her death in Sunset Valley.

Being a Texas native, Barbara proudly had several ancestors that helped settle Texas as members of Austin's Original Old 300, and helped develop the Texas Rangers. She lived in San Antonio for almost 30 years moving to Austin in 1972. She lived in and around Austin, Lockhart and Sunset Valley Texas for over 45 years, where she had much family and many friends. She was a loving Wife and Mother, A proud housewife and a fantastic cook. After raising her family in the Westlake Hills area, they moved to a small 20 acre property in Lockhart, where she, Bill and Scott raised goats, had wonderful gardens and enjoyed the peace of the country life. She and her family then moved to Sunset Valley, where her neighbors are more like family, and she was able to experience small town comfort in a big city. She was an avid reader since childhood, and always had a book close by to pick up and read. In fact, it was not uncommon for her to have a couple of books in different rooms to read at the same time.

She was preceded in death by her only Brother, Thomas Gordie (Buddy) Wells in 1971, her Father Harold in 1998, Friend and Family member Ruby Swain in 2000 and her Mother Dollie in 2004. Also preceding her in death were several special Aunts, Uncles and a few close cousins. She is survived by her loving husband Bill and son Scott of Sunset Valley, her oldest and closest dear friend Pat Bonewicz of San Antonio, Cousin's Shirley and Robert Wright of San Antonio, Pat and Mary Brady of Austin, Ginny, David and Mark Lehman of Austin, and Norma Jean Jackson of Paris Texas.

The Family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Rodriguez, Dr. Jonathan Guerra, Dr. Peter Miller, Dr. Nicholas Rowder and Dr. Glen Vo for the excellent care they gave her during her illness. The family would also like to thank all of the nursing staff and patient care techs that attended to her care in the Emergency Room, on 3 North and 4 Central at St. David's South Austin Hospital during her illness.

A special Thank You is also given to Katie Pace RN with Home Care Providers of Texas. She was an angel for her and us during very difficult times. We also want to thank all of the staff at Texas Home Health and Hospice for their care and compassion for her and our family. A special Thank You must be given to Dee Bryant, Barbara's Home Health Aide, and to Renata Tyson, Barbara's nurse.
