Sherman Stone

Sherman Lee Stone (69) passed away July 20, 2018, surrounded by his family.  He was born March 11, 1949 in Houston, TX.

Sherman loved life and helping others.  Family was very dear to him and he was never happier than when he had them all together.   He was a champion of the disabled and the underdog, working for love and equality for all.  He loved animals and worked with Greyhound rescue for years.   He was an avid collector of stamps, coins, trading cards, pottery, Roy Rogers memorabilia, Star Wars and many other things.  Gardening was therapy for him and he loved sharing plants with others.

For the past 17 years, Sherman was the Director of Operations for Bethany United Methodist Church of Austin, Texas.

Sherman is survived by his wife of 17 years Katherine Ann Stone, his three daughters Andrea Lee (Stone) Rader and her husband Brett Rader, Emileigh Suzanne Stone and Ashley Nicole Marcum, his granddaughters Allison Noelle Rader, Aimee Nicolle Rader and Autumn Suzanne Rader, his brother Monroe (Bubba) Kirby, his nephews Mike Kirby, Greg Kirby and Kevin Kirby, his brother-in-law Jim Cooper and many others who have become family over the years.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 am Saturday the 28th of July at Bethany United Methodist Church, 10010 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, Texas. In place of flowers honor Sherman with a gift to your favorite charity.
