Nelda Jean Whatley, 82, of Red Rock, Texas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at the Bastrop Lost Pines Nursing And Rehabilitation Center with her daughter at her side. Nelda was born on November 18, 1934, in Beaumont, Texas. Nelda worked at a number of large retail stores was an avid bowler in the Beaumont area. In the mid 1970's Nelda and her husband Archie started raising and training race horses in Red Rock. They also trained and raced in El Paso, Texas and Ruidoso, New Mexico before moving back to Red Rock around 2006.

Nelda was preceded in death by her husband Archie; her brother, James Barrum, a daughter Nedsa Bienek and a grandson Beau Whatley. She is survived by her son, Charles Whatley, a daughter, Linda Frazier and her husband Kenneth, 3 grandchildren, Charles Jones, Angela Frazier and Gregg Frazier, 3 great grandchildren, Lynden Jacobs, Lane Jacobs and Chance. She also leaves behind a multitude of family and friends whose lives were touched by Nelda.

A Memorial service will be held for Nelda Whatley at 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at The Bastrop Lost Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center @ 430 Old Austin Highway Bastrop, Texas

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a memorial contribution in Nelda's name to The Bastrop Lost Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bastrop, Texas or to Guiding Hospice Care in Round Rock, Texas.
