Eric Spivey

d. July 6, 2019

North Austin Location

Eric O’Neil Spivey answered the Lord's call home on Saturday, July 6th, 2019 after a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis and Dementia/Alzheimer's Disease. He was 45.

Born January 26, 1974 in Corpus Christi, Texas (The Sparkling City by the Sea), at Spohn Hospital.  Eric is the ninth child born to the Late Bishop Billy Sim Spivey and Mother Vera Nell Spivey Davis. He had twelve siblings.

Eric was raised in the Churches of our Lord Jesus Christ and accepted Christ st his personal savior at a young age.  Eric love and devotion for church inspired him to become an ordained Deacon under the leadership of the Late Bishop Billy Sim Spivey.

Eric aka “E40” attended public schools in Austin ISD, graduating from Lyndon Baines Johnson High School in 1993.  Eric was an “athelete”, he loved playing football for the Jaguars.  Eric was such a big guy, his dad had to order his uniform from University of Texas.  If you knocked Eric down, you were strong.

Eric moved to Odessa, Texas and was under the leadership of Bishop and Lore Taylor.  He later moved to the Peach State of Georgia and attended the Bibleway Church of our Lord Jesus Christ under the leadership of Apostle Sylvester Norwood.

Eric had a passion for food. He loved to cook and eat also. He worked alongside his father and mother at Spivey’s Bar-B-Que. He worked there for many years and enjoyed every customer who came through the doors.

Eric loved the Texas Longhorns as much as he loved to eat.   I know that’s hard to believe. He bled orange and enjoyed watching all of the games.

Eric loved food, the Texas Longhorns, but most of all he loved all of his nephews. He would cook for them, mentor them, and most of all he would discipline them. His love for his nephews would allow them to grow up loving and respecting their Uncle Eric.

Eric’s loving and devoted father the Honorable Bishop Billy Sim Spivey preceded him in death. Eric leaves to cherish his memories his precious, sweet and loving mother, Vera Nell Davis Spivey, Mark Anthony Spivey, Sr. (Jullette), Lore Ann Spivey, Deidre Woodworth  Billy Sim Spivey, Jr. (Charla), Carla Renea Spivey-Ray, Felissa Gail Spivey-Martin (Marcus), Remanda Rusha Spivey-Bess (Jihad), David Lamont Spivey, Sr., Billie Carlette Spivey, Michael Barnard Spivey, Sr. (Tiffiany), Regina Jenea Spivey-Alao (Oluwasegun), Christopher Dewayne Spivey, Sr., (LaTausha), Darryl Wayne Spivey, Sr. (Brittany). 41 nieces & nephews and 37 nieces & nephews.
