Deacon Alfred Cunningham Jr.

Deacon Alfred Louis Cunningham Jr. was born on February 23, 1944 in LaVernia, TX to the late Alfred (AJ) and Fannie (Hartfield) Cunningham.

Alfred professed a belief in Jesus Christ and accepted Him as his Lord and Savior at an early age.  He and his Family joined True Light Missionary Baptist Church in the 80's.  In 1992, Alfred was ordained a Deacon under the leadership of Reverend J.R. Williams.  He served faithfully until his health began to decline.

Alfred married the love of his life Florence Marie Coleman on November 14, 1966.  To this union two children were born; Youlanda (Yogi) and Anthony (Tony).

Alfred was a devoted, hardworking, and caring man.  He enjoyed watching football, working on cars, and making old things become new by reupholstering furniture.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.

Alfred attended public schools in the Guadalupe Independent School District.  Upon graduation, Alfred was drafted into the United States Army where he served his country two years Active Duty and one and a half in the Reserves.  Alfred retired from the City of Austin after twenty-five years of dedicated service.

His parents, two sisters, and two brothers preceded him in Death.

He quietly slept away Saturday, September 8, 2018.

Although he will be missed dearly, he leaves to cherish his loving memories; wife, Florence Cunningham; Daughter Youlanda (Yogi) Cunningham; son Anthony(Tony) Cunningham (Tara); three grandchildren, Darlan Washington, Jordan Blake and Alysia; four sisters, Mary Gilmore and Bettie Williams of San Antonio, TX, Margie Porter and Fannie Cunningham of Schertz, TX; one brother, Falton Cunningham of Seguin, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews , cousins, other relatives and friends.
