Clarence Williams, Jr., 69 of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by love, on January 8, 2018. Born in Smithville, Texas on October 13, 1948, Clarence was the second of seven children born to Clarence Williams, Sr. and Marie Haywood Williams. At an early age, he accepted Christ and was Baptized, and later in life became a member of Mt. Rose Missionary Baptist Church in Bastrop, Texas.

In his youth, Clarence attended Emile High School in the Bastrop Independent School District. After High School, he relocated to Lincoln, Nebraska to attend the Job Corps where he was Certified as an Auto Mechanic. After returning home he united with Betty Jo Lee, and they were happily married on April 4, 1970. To this union two children were born.

After their union and move to Austin, he was employed by American Bank (now JP Morgan Chase) where he worked for 20 years before retiring in August 1989.

In addition to his professional career, he had a love for music, and was an owner of an impressive collection of music. As a hobby, he regularly deejayed events and parties under the moniker “Sugar Red”.

He was a proud husband, father and grandfather, and was crazy about his grandchildren whom he raised from birth. They were the joy of his life!

Clarence was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Williams, Sr., his adoptive Parents, Sammie J. Washington and Minnie Lee Washington-Reese, his brothers Robert E. Williams, Freddie Williams, George Dale Rector, Sammie Lee Washington and Hulisher Randy Washington, and one sister, Sharon Rector.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of almost 48 years, Betty Jo Williams; his daughters, Chantal Williams, LaToya Williams-Hall (Fabian) and Tonya Hunter; his mother, Marie Haywood Rector; five grandchildren, Sydney Williams, Whitney Williams, Britney Williams, Kalesia Calhoun, and Mykul Hunter; two step-grandsons, Jaiden and Adrian Hall, and one great-grandson, Mykul Hunter Jr. Also left to cherish precious memories are his sisters, Ellen Portis (Kenneth), Wilma Moore (Earl), Lillian Fisher (Van), Alicia Beck (David), Margie Arnold, Joyce Ann Torrence, and Patricia Washington-Phillips (James); his brothers, Garwood Williams (Bobbie), Charles Williams (Dee), Charles Haywood, Terry Rector, Timmy Rector, Darnell Washington (Esther), Herman Washington (Sharon), Johnnie Lee Washington (Louanna), Larrie Washington, Sr. (Roxanne), Andrew Washington (Cynthia), Louis Ray Washington, Sr. (Pamela), Brian Washington, Sr. (Ruthie); his brothers-in-law Charles Lewis Lee and Robert Earl Lee (Diane); his sisters-in-law, Ruth Washington, Gloria Washington, Diane Williams and Wanda Lee, and an extensive hosts of relatives and friends.

Visitation Services will be held on Friday, January 12th, 2018 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, 8507 N. IH-35, Austin Texas.Home Going Celebration Services will be held on Saturday, January 13th, 2018 at 1:00pm at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 4301 Tannahill Ln., Austin Texas 78721. Committal Graveside Services will follow in Clear View Cemetery, Bastrop, Texas.
