Alvin Clark

April 23, 1952 — November 26, 2018

North Austin Location

Brother Alvin Lewis Clark was born April 23, 1952 in Lockhart, Texas to Melvia Louise Clark. He was five years old when his mother went to be with the Lord and his loving grandmother, Ruby Dell Clark, gave him a warm and caring home.

It was early in his childhood that he began his personal journey with Jesus at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church Austin, Texas. His grandmother nurtured his love for Christ and they enjoyed attending church together regularly.

Brother Clark was a proud graduate of the distinguished Old L. C. Anderson High School and often bragged that he was a member of the last graduating class of 1971. After graduation, he immediately started his professional career as a shoe salesman and married his first love. To this union two daughters were born, and he was blessed with a third daughter in 1974.

Brother Clark spent some years perfecting his craft as a manager at Bakers Shoes before he moved to a new and burgeoning chain, Wild Pair. It was there that he spent the next 22 years and in 1990 when Wild Pair closed, he continued his retail career with J. Steven’s Big and Tall, Bag and Baggage and Dillard’s Men Store until August of 2008 when he retired.

During his tenure at Wild Pair he met and married Elaine White Ware and became “Buddy” to her son Brian.  They were blessed with another son in 1996. He loved his family and he had one more love, The Dallas Cowboys. As a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan, their home was filled with lots of Cowboy memorabilia.  Everyone who entered the garage knew they were walking into Cowboy country.

The latter part of his life was spent worshipping The Lord at Rehoboth Baptist Church where he received spiritual leadership and guidance from Elder Ray Hendricks.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Elaine; daughters; Shanta Johnson (Denver, Colorado), Alvina Williams (Bryan, Texas), Myesheia Roland (San Antonio, Texas), son; Lavarr Clark (Austin, Texas), “Big Son” Brian Ware (Ruston, Louisiana).  Three grandchildren Channa Johnson, Natily Mayberry, and Jared Mayberry.  Seven siblings: Deborah Davis (San Antonio, Texas), Laura Roland (Lancaster, Texas) Michone Bowie (Cedar Hill, Texas) Rosalind Roland (Irving, Texas); Renetta Roland (Arlington, Texas); Levie Roland Jr. (Cedar Hill, Texas); Brandon Roland (Cedar Hill, Texas).  Numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  A cherished friend, Clifton Weakley.
