Lonnie Johnson

Lonnie Beth McCullough was born on August 10,1932, to Tom McCullough and Carrie Smizer   in Lee County, Texas. Lonnie ‘s   mother, Carrie Smizer deceased upon giving birth to Lonnie.   Lonnie was raised by her grand-mother Mariah in Dime Box, Texas until approximately the age of 12. Lonnie was adopted by Professor Shedrick, and his sister Sarah Graves, in William Penn, Texas. Lonnie attended St. Peter School in William Penn, Texas.  Lonnie attended, and joined Union Hill Baptist Church at an early age.

Lonnie met and married William J. Johnson. To this union 5 children were born. Shirley, Carrie, Freddie, Darlene and Patricia. Lonnie worked as a Cafeteria Server at Blinn Jr. College for many years. Lonnie met Clint Watkins Jr; 5 children were born to this union. Robert, Kevin, Chris, David and Irene. Lonnie joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist in Brenham, Texas, where she sung in the choir, she later joined Main Street Baptist Church, Brenham, Texas. Lonnie retired and moved to Austin, Texas, where she spent time with her children and grandchildren.

Lonnie love the Lord and even though Lonnie was hearing impaired the last few years of her life, you could see her clapping her hands and bobbing her head to the singing.  Lonnie joined East Side Baptist Church almost 20 years ago, where she attended faithfully until her death.

Lonnie was preceded in death by her parent, adopted parents, her husbands, three children Christopher, Patricia, Freddie and one   grandson Douglas Keith.

Lonnie leaves to cherish her precious memories to her children, Shirley, Carrie, David, and Kevin (Latresia) Austin, Texas. Darlene (Byron) and Irene, Houston, Texas. Robert, College Station Texas

Grand Children:16, Great Grand Children:19, A host of nieces’ nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services for Lonnie Johnson will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at East Side Baptist Church, 2400 Northeast Drive, Austin, Texas 78723. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
